Caryl has volunteered in our community for years. Currently, she serves as a Women of Tomorrow mentor at Hollywood Hills High School, an officer on the board of the North Beach Condominium Association and is a member of the City of Hollywood Dune Master Plan Task Force. She is a graduate of Leadership Hollywood and has served in leadership roles within the Broward Public Schools Partners in Education program, The JCC Book Festival and the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation Take Steps Walk.

After obtaining a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, Caryl went on to obtain her Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland. Caryl started her legal career in private practice representing companies engaged in all aspects of construction and currently serves as corporate counsel to Moss & Associates, LLC.  Caryl has extensive and unique experience in preparing and negotiating contracts, as well as in risk allocation, insurance and bonding. She is a member of the Florida bar, board certified in construction law and a member of the Forum on the Construction Industry for the American Bar Association.

Caryl and her husband Marty have been married over 30 years. Marty is currently Board Chair of the Broward Public Library Foundation and President-Elect of the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. They also have a private law practice, Shuham & Shuham on Harrison Street in downtown Hollywood. They are the proud parents of three sons - Simon, an aerospace mechanical engineer; Matt, a journalist; and Ben, a medical school student.
